THE DRAMA WORKSHOP ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE MUSICAL “DEAR WORLD”

The Drama Workshop, led by director Dennis Murphy and musical director Linda Abbott, will hold auditions for the musical DEAR WORLD on Monday, Jan 22 and Thursday, Jan 25, 2024. Callbacks are possible on Monday, Jan 29, 2024. The auditions begin at 7 p.m. each evening and will be held at the Glenmore Playhouse, 3716 Glenmore Ave. Cheviot, OH 45211. The theater’s doors will open at 6:30 p.m. each evening.

DEAR WORLD has music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, famous for such musicals as Hello, Dolly!, Mame and La Cage au Folles. Book is by Lawrence and Lee.

Based on a play called The Madwoman of Chaillot by Jean Giraudoux, the plot follows the eccentric Countess Aurelia and her struggles against the straitlaced authority figures in her life. She and her cohort defend their Parisian neighborhood against scheming and corrupt developers. The forces of idealism, love, and poetry win over those of greed, materialism, and science.

Performances for DEAR WORLD will be May 3 thru 19, 2024.

An accompanist will be provided for auditions. Please bring sheet music in your key with cuts clearly marked. Also bring a headshot and résumé, as well as any conflicts February 1 through May 19, 2024.
