Audition Requirements
- Please bring a resume/headshot and any conflicts from 12/9/2024 – 3/16/2025.
- Please be ready to demonstrate a general English accent. Don’t panic if you don’t know an English accent. The cast will have a dialect coach.
- Auditions will consist of readings from the script.
- Some actors might be asked to stay for the next audition session depending on the mix of people signed up.
- All cast members will be required to become members of The Drama Workshop ($20 fee) and agree to TDW’s Code of Conduct prior to rehearsals starting
The Drama Workshop is a community theatre organization that performs at the Glenmore Playhouse in Cheviot, OH. These roles are not paid.
Synopsis
The Mousetrap is a murder mystery play by Agatha Christie that takes place in a remote guesthouse during a snowstorm. The play follows a group of eight people who become suspects when one of them is murdered. They must figure out who the killer is, and who will be the next victim, while also revealing their own secrets. The play is set in the Great Hall of Monkswell Manor, a Victorian estate that has been converted into a guesthouse run by Mollie and Giles Ralston.
Character Descriptions
MOLLY RALSON: Female; Age 20s to early 30s. New owner/hostess of Monkswell Manor; married to Giles for one year.
GILES RALSTON: Male; Age 20s to early 30s. Owns Monkswell Manor with his wife Mollie.
CHRISTOPHER WREN: Male; Age 20s to 30s. Wren is a young man who acts in a very peculiar manner.
MRS. BOYLE: Female; Age 40s to 60s. Mrs. Boyle is an imposing woman in a bad temper; she complains about everything. (Appears only in the first act)
MAJOR METCALF: Male; Age 40s to 60s. Major Metcalf is military in manner and bearing. He is friendly and very polite.
MISS CASEWELL: Female; Age 20s to 30s. A strange, aloof, somewhat masculine woman.
MR. PARAVICINI: Male; Age 30s to 50s. A foreigner of unknown provenance who isn’t what he seems.
SGT. TROTTER: Male; Age 20s to 30s. Sergeant Trotter has been sent to ask questions in connection with a local murder.
MOLLIE and GILES will have some mild intimacy in the form of hugs and light kisses on the cheek or head. Nothing passionate.
Production Dates
Performances run 3 weekends from February 28 – March 16, 2025. There are a total of 10 performances. Fridays 8:00 pm, Saturdays 8:00 pm, Sundays 2pm each weekend, with a Thursday 7:30pm performance the final weekend.
Rehearsal Plan
Pending confirmation of actors’ availability, we will plan to do a read through and some table work in mid December and then break for the holidays and start up with blocking the second full week in January.
